How to find a Local food tour guide?
I realized when I took a food tour in Portland, Oregon how important it is to get a local tour guide. We were visiting family at the time and we really wanted to do something different. While we were out exploring, we realized how unique Portland, Oregon is with beautiful public art, lots of food trucks and many wonderful restaurants. I thought, where do I start? I started searching places to eat and became overwhelmed. Luckily, I came across Eat Adventures.
Their website invited me to “Come eat with us” I could not pass that up! Eat Adventures offers walking food tours and driving food tours all throughout the Portland area. We decided on the Alberta Arts District Food Tour and it was incredible! Our guide was a local and he had lived in this particular neighborhood since the late 90’s.

Our food tour guide introduced us to the unique cuisine of Dar Salam and told us tales of colorful Alberta St. I was blown away by the knowledge and fun that this tour guide created for us and the experience was so enjoyable. I knew from that point on, when I traveled anywhere that I would choose a locally guided food tour to truly experience the city that I was in. It really is the best idea. Not only are you supporting the local economy and people but this way you will gain inside knowledge of the area and your local guide will take you to unique places that others would not think to go. You will experience a sense of place through food and culture. It’s a win- win.
